Saline Therapy... worth its salt?

It's the newest therapy designed to cleanse airways for relief of allergies, sinus congestion and snoring but how does it work?
It is an air purifying system containing over 98% sodium chloride and when activated disperses a dry salt aerosol into the surrounding air whilst also trapping troublesome dust and other airborne particles.  When inhaled, the particles travel into the airways, break down mucus and subsequently increase air flow.  It is recommended to be used during the night and can aid sleep.
I can see the logic behind this innovative technology.  I don't know about you but when walking by the seaside I certainly feel refreshed and cleansed by the salty air, not to mention it can often ensure a good night's sleep.  There have also been many salt therapy spas opened in the last few years, where clients lie on a lounger literally in a room of salt!  These can be expensive as regular sessions are required for lasting benefits.

It is a little expensive to buy without a guarantee of success but some pharmacies (including mine!) are offering rental of a device so you can see how it works before you commit. For any sufferers or (parents of sufferers) of allergies or respiratory symptoms, sleeping well can often be a struggle.  But from my point of view, with improved breathing and sleep it would be worth giving it a go!
